Mindanao builders had the rare opportunity to learn Ethereum development directly from one of Web3’s most respected developer educators.
Speedrun Ethereum Davao brought together developers, students, and blockchain enthusiasts for an immersive introduction to building decentralized applications. Hosted with Ethereum Philippines and local partners, the event focused on hands-on learning, allowing participants to dive into the fundamentals of Ethereum development while learning from global experts and local community leaders.
Learning Ethereum the Speedrun Way
Held on August 22, 2025 at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), the workshop introduced participants to the full stack of Ethereum development—from smart contracts and EVM fundamentals to building and testing decentralized applications. The sessions emphasized practical experimentation, guiding participants through the process of building real onchain projects.
One of the highlights of the event was a live session by Austin Griffith, founder of Speedrun Ethereum and a well-known developer educator who has helped thousands of developers around the world learn how to build on Ethereum. Mindanao developers and educators had the chance to learn directly from him as he shared insights on building dApps and navigating the Ethereum ecosystem.
Strengthening the Builder Community in Mindanao
The workshop also featured sessions from community leaders and researchers, including Ethereum Philippines contributors and local organizers from the Davao DeFi Community. Topics ranged from EVM fundamentals and smart contract security to grassroots ecosystem development in the region.
Mentorship from members of BuidlGuidl, supported by the Ethereum Foundation, gave participants exposure to global best practices in Ethereum development. Through collaborative exercises and open-source experimentation, participants gained a deeper understanding of how decentralized applications are built and secured.
