In Study Group Session 3, Ethereum Philippines welcomed Dominik Schmid, co-founder of Miden, to discuss how zero-knowledge virtual machines (ZKVMs) are reshaping the future of blockchain architecture.
Understanding Privacy-Preserving Infrastructure
The session introduced participants to the role of ZKVMs in modern blockchain design and why they are becoming an increasingly important part of Ethereum’s scalability and privacy roadmap. Dominik explained how Miden leverages zero-knowledge technology to enable secure, scalable, and privacy-focused applications while preserving the cryptographic guarantees expected from decentralized systems. Discussions covered client-side proving, practical privacy, and the technical challenges involved in building privacy-preserving networks at scale.
Beyond the technical architecture, participants explored why privacy should be viewed as a core design principle rather than an optional feature. As blockchain expands beyond crypto-native users, applications serving institutions, enterprises, and everyday users increasingly require systems that can protect sensitive information without sacrificing transparency, compliance, or security.
