A new ecosystem overview highlights how Filipino builders, communities, and startups are shaping Ethereum’s growth across the country.

A Snapshot of the Ethereum Ecosystem in the Philippines

In late 2025, Geode Labs, the ecosystem development arm supporting the global Ethereum ecosystem, published “The Philippines Ethereum Ecosystem Overview”, a comprehensive report documenting how Ethereum is evolving across the country. The report forms part of the Local Ethereum initiative, which maps grassroots communities, startups, and adoption patterns in different regions of the world.

The Philippines stands out as one of the most active crypto markets globally. With more than 12 million Filipinos engaging with cryptocurrency, the country consistently ranks among the top nations in global crypto adoption indexes.

This level of adoption is not driven purely by speculation. Structural factors—such as overseas remittances, widespread smartphone access, and a large unbanked population—have created real demand for blockchain-based financial tools and digital payment infrastructure.

For Ethereum builders, this environment presents a unique opportunity: a large user base already familiar with crypto, combined with growing experimentation around decentralized finance, tokenized assets, and blockchain-based public infrastructure.

Communities Powering the Ecosystem

One of the key themes highlighted in the report is the role of grassroots communities and builders in shaping the Philippine Ethereum ecosystem. From developer workshops and hackathons to research initiatives and open-source contributions, community-led efforts have played a central role in onboarding new builders.

The ecosystem map featured in the report documents a wide range of participants across the country—from startups building payment rails and DeFi infrastructure to gaming projects, developer communities, and educational initiatives that help train the next generation of Ethereum contributors.

The report also notes how Web3 gaming played a major role in onboarding millions of Filipinos into crypto, with the rise of play-to-earn ecosystems creating one of the earliest large-scale on-ramps into blockchain technology in the country.

Members of Ethereum Philippines (ETHPH) contributed insights to the report, helping document the local ecosystem and the ongoing efforts to grow developer education across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The publication serves not only as a snapshot of where the ecosystem stands today, but also as a signal that the Philippines is increasingly recognized as an important region within the global Ethereum community.

The Philippines is not just adopting crypto—it is steadily becoming a source of builders for the global Ethereum ecosystem.
