A two-day Ethereum workshop in Davao marked the beginning of a new chapter for builders in Mindanao.
The workshop was designed not only to introduce developers to Ethereum, but also to establish a long-term community for builders in the region. Over two days of learning, coding, and discussion, students, developers, and curious technologists gathered to explore how decentralized technologies work and how they can start building onchain. By the end of the event, what began as a workshop had become something more significant—the official launch of ETHPH Mindanao.
A Two-Day Ethereum Development Workshop
Held in Davao City on June 6–7, the workshop introduced participants to Ethereum fundamentals, smart contract development, and the tools needed to build decentralized applications. The sessions were designed to be beginner-friendly while still giving developers practical experience writing and interacting with smart contracts.
Participants worked through hands-on exercises while learning how Ethereum applications are built—from understanding blockchain concepts to deploying their first contracts. The event was organized by Ethereum Philippines together with local partners such as the Davao DeFi Community, supported by volunteers who helped guide participants throughout the workshop.
The Beginning of ETHPH Mindanao
More than just a workshop, the gathering marked the official launch of ETHPH Mindanao, creating a regional chapter focused on supporting builders in the southern Philippines. The launch recognized the growing interest in Ethereum among developers, students, and educators in Mindanao who wanted a local community to learn and build with.
With ETHPH Mindanao established, the goal is to continue nurturing developer talent across the region through workshops, hackathons, and collaborations with universities and local tech communities. The launch signaled an important step toward building a stronger and more distributed Ethereum ecosystem in the Philippines—one that reaches beyond traditional tech hubs and empowers builders across the islands.
