Proof of Teach Mindanao was designed around a simple but powerful idea: the fastest way to grow a builder ecosystem is to empower educators. Rather than onboarding individual developers one at a time, the program brought together instructors, professors, and academic leaders interested in bringing Ethereum and blockchain education into their classrooms. By equipping educators with both technical knowledge and teaching materials, the initiative aimed to create a multiplying effect that could reach thousands of students across Mindanao.
Training the Educators
The workshop gathered instructors from universities across Mindanao for an immersive training program on Ethereum development and blockchain fundamentals. Participants explored the principles behind decentralized systems, smart contracts, and Web3 architecture while discussing how these topics could be integrated into computer science and IT curricula.
Beyond technical knowledge, the sessions also focused on teaching strategies and curriculum design. Educators were encouraged to think about how blockchain concepts could be explained to students in accessible ways, while also identifying areas where hands-on development exercises could strengthen learning outcomes.
Building Ethereum Classrooms in Mindanao
By the end of the program, the goal was not just to produce a group of trained educators—but to seed multiple Ethereum classrooms across the region. Each instructor who participated now carries the knowledge and resources to introduce blockchain development to their own students, creating new opportunities for future builders.
The initiative highlighted the growing collaboration between Ethereum Philippines, local developer communities such as Davao DeFi, and academic institutions that recognize the importance of emerging technologies. With educators acting as catalysts, Mindanao has the potential to cultivate a strong pipeline of developers who can contribute to the global Ethereum ecosystem.
